Dr. (Maj) Bishwadeep Paul
President, IAOH
I consider it an honour to serve as National President for the term 2023-25 and to be a part of an organization that not only sets benchmark and gives knowledge back but allows friendships to be created within the Occupational Health fraternity.
I am proudly following the footsteps of some great leaders in the industry. The Association will shortly celebrate its 75th year of existence. It was formed in 1948 by individuals who were motivated and persistent in pursuing a goal to be India’s leading voluntary professional organization, committed to attain highest standards of occupational health in India by enabling stakeholders, influencing policymakers, and creating community consciousness. I intend to keep that tradition going and bring together our 23 branches with over 3000 members to raise the bar in learning from each other and supporting the fraternity in dealing with occupational health & hygiene related matters.
I have had a very long association and held diverse positions in this Association over the past eighteen years. Here, eminent Occupational Health experts from esteemed organizations have set a legacy of leading and guiding young budding professionals to become future leaders. Many of our distinguished members have made significant contributions to the OH landscape both nationally and internationally by increasing the overall knowledge base and integrating occupational health, safety, and environment for sustainable businesses.
Several opportunities will be available throughout the year to meet and network during Conferences & CME’s. Networking is an important part of our industry. I have been a member of the Association for many years and networking personally has allowed several opportunities to come my way that otherwise would not have. This association has a wealth of knowledge, and when combined with the networking opportunities, has helped create long term relationships which have been priceless.
Through our Branch Website, we intend to maintain regular communication with our existing members and increase our membership base. We trust that this website will act as a channel for communication among members.
While we look forward to some exciting conferences by our affiliated branches across the country, and the mega International Convention ICOH 2027 being organized in Mumbai by IAOH; we need young leaders to step up, actively participate and get involved in our future endeavors. Please feel free to contact me or any of my office bearers for guidance.
We need to leave a legacy during our lifetime by publishing our hard work and create a rich database for Occupational Health in India. I invite young & experienced professionals, to do scientific research in organized and non-organized workplaces and submit such articles for publication in the Indian Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (IJOEM) (ISSN-0973-2284) which is an official peer-reviewed, open access official publication of the Indian Association of Occupational Health.
Let us collectively take up this challenge to spread our reach and impact as thought leaders and make our vision a reality!
